At the meeting, Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Advisor Güven Eken presented "Izmir Planning Agency: Medium-Term and Innovative Solution Strategies for Izmir's Spatial Planning." Then, the study titled "Transformation of Cemal Gürsel Barracks," prepared by the Izmir Chamber of Commerce, was presented to the participants.

Legend is back

Speaking about the Şaşal Water Factory, which was brought back to the city by the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, Mehmet Ali Kasalı said, “The legend is back.” Mayor Soyer said, “We are proud to bring the Şaşal Water Factory back to the city. “We have brought the old, beautiful brand of Izmir to life again,” he said.

President Soyer said for the new term of the board, “I hope there will be very productive, valuable, and contributing meetings in the future, as there have been until today. IEKKK is one of the largest platforms of intelligence and ideas in Izmir. I’m delighted to be here. “May our new era be auspicious,” he said.

Emphasis on Izmir consensus

Also, talking about the work of Izmir Planning Agency, Mayor Soyer said, “We are now pursuing sustainability. Despite this destruction, we are trying to design a different future that will save the future of this city. We don’t just put forward the vision of the future. “The issue is not only about the future but also about the present; we want to give confidence and eliminate the uncertainties, allowing us and our children living in this city to look at the future with hope,” he said.

Referring to the importance of the agency and stating that they aim to bring together the institutions in the city on the ‘Izmir consensus,’ Mayor Soyer said, “We desire to do a general planning. Each institution can make its strategic plan, but we put forward a broader vision. An environment where all the dynamics of the city can feel themselves involved. We should be able to create such a large platform in Izmir. “This is just a work that reveals a vision and perspective,” he said.
