87 percent of the projects have been completed
Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tunç Soyer announced that they reached an 87 percent success rate by completing 144 of the 165 projects included in the 2019 election declaration. The booklet "We Promised, We Delivered," which includes the projects of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality between 2019 and 2023, shows Mayor Soyer's record of success in Izmir. The booklet also contains information about 15 additional projects that were not included in Soyer's election promises but were realized during the term of Mayor Soyer to respond to the evolving needs of Izmir.
Within the scope of the projects in Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tunç Soyer's election manifesto published in 2019 under the name "Cemre Projects", the booklet sharing what has been done so far was published on tuncsoyer.com.tr. The projects shared under 7 main goals in the booklet reveal Mayor Soyer's record of success in Izmir during his term in office. Accordingly, President Soyer, who completed 144 of the 165 projects he promised when he took office, has an 87 percent success rate. Underlining that there are 15 additional projects they have produced for the changing needs of Izmir due to reasons such as the COVID 19 pandemic, earthquake, global climate crisis, Mayor Soyer reveals what they have done during his term of office and the results of these studies with data.
Above all, "Safe Life"
The booklet begins with an introduction by Izmir Metropolitan Mayor Tunç Soyer addressing Izmir residents, and the first title is Safe Life. The booklet, which conveys many innovative and concrete steps taken for an Izmir that is resilient in the face of global problems such as climate crisis and drought, where houses do not collapse in earthquakes, and where citizens do not lose their lives, includes many studies, from improving infrastructure services to investments in transportation. Among these projects, the urban transformation movement that grows with the cooperative model and the Living Gulf Mobilization, which ultimately ends the odor problem in the Gulf of Izmir, stand out.
“We will weave Izmir with iron nets”
The activities carried out by Mayor Tunç Soyer within the scope of his promise, "We will weave Izmir with iron nets," are among the exciting titles of the booklet. Stating in the booklet that they have made the largest metro investments in the history of Izmir, Tunç Soyer states that the construction of three lines started simultaneously and that two of these lines will be put into service soon, despite the increasing daily costs.
100 Republican Fortresses on the 100th anniversary of the Republic
Tunç Soyer emphasizes that they are steadfastly working to build 100 Republican fortresses in Izmir on the 100th anniversary of the Republic and that they have already brought three strongholds to Izmir in honor of our great leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk's saying, "Every Factory Is a Fortress." Among the Republic fortresses opened to increase prosperity and justice in Izmir, there are Şaşal Water Factory, Bayındır Milk Factory, and İzDönüşüm Facility, which grow the circular economy of the city.
“Izmir is us!”
Stating that he was proud to present 144 of the 165 projects he promised during the election period and 15 additional projects for changing needs, Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tunç Soyer said: “We are very proud. When we set out in 2019, we promised 165 projects to Izmir. Despite the economic crisis that is increasing daily in our country, one by one, we have implemented 144 of our projects for Izmir. We promised, we delivered. This means an 87 percent success rate. Izmir residents can see all of these transparently in our booklet. We have 7 projects that we promised but could not realize due to increasing costs and obstacles arising from legislation. However, we have initiated and completed 15 projects not included in our election promises. We have secured a safe life in Izmir with what we have done. We have initiated infrastructure moves on a scale that has never been done before. We brought an end to the odor problem and pollution in the Gulf of Izmir with the Living Gulf Mobilization. We declared war on drought and poverty in Izmir agriculture. We protected the fertility of our city, the sweat of our producers, and the hopes of our youth. None of this was done by me alone. We succeeded together with 4 and a half million people of Izmir. We will continue to work towards our goal of leaving Izmir a stronger, more resilient and more livable future. We are delighted to serve Izmir and make it a more beautiful city. Izmir is us."
