Head of the European Union Delegation to Türkiye, Ambassador H.E. Nikolaus Meyer-Landrut visited Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tunç Soyer in his office. During the meeting, views on Izmir were exchanged.
Mayor Tunç Soyer welcomed Ambassador H.E. Nikolaus Meyer-Landrut, the Head of the European Union Delegation to Turkey, during his visit to Izmir for several engagements. The meeting also included the presence of Brigitte Meyer-Landrut, the ambassador's wife, and Alexander Fricke, the Head of Civil Society, Fundamental Rights, Judiciary, and Internal Affairs Section of the EU Delegation to Türkiye.
Soyer said: "Fairs reach everyone in Izmir"
Mayor Tunç Soyer highlighted the vibrant nature of Izmir's economy, emphasizing that the city and its business community exhibit resilience in the face of challenges. He remarked, "Regardless of the circumstances, all difficulties contribute to the city's and its entrepreneurs' ability to withstand crises. They continuously enhance their capabilities." Mayor Soyer also mentioned that İZFAŞ, the fair organization company under the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, is set to host around 40 fairs this year. He added, "Fairs have a widespread impact in Izmir, benefiting various sectors such as hotels, taxis, and local businesses."
Ambassador H.E. Nikolaus Meyer-Landrut mentioned their visit to the Technopark at Ege University as part of their trip to Izmir, underscoring the significance of collaboration between universities. He expressed, "When a city establishes sister cities and partnerships, I believe that universities in these locations have the opportunity to engage in meaningful cooperation."
