Izmir Metropolitan Municipality organized a Respect for Atatürk March as part of the 10 November Atatürk Commemoration Day events. A 350-meter giant Atatürk poster was carried in the march, attended by Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tunç Soyer. President Tunç Soyer said, “Atatürk’s principles and revolutions guide us in the political climate in Türkiye and the world. We will defend these principles until the end.” 

The commemoration program organized by Izmir Metropolitan Municipality on the 85th anniversary of the death of the great leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk continued throughout the day. In the evening, a “Respect for Atatürk March” was held from Alsancak Port to Cumhuriyet Square with the large participation of the people of Izmir. Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tunç Soyer, Konak Mayor Abdül Batur, municipal bureaucrats, non-governmental organizations, representatives of chambers, associations, and political parties, council members, village headmen, and citizens participated in the march where a 350-meter giant Atatürk poster was being carried. At the end of the walk, a concert consisting of Atatürk’s favorite folk songs was given.

Soyer: “It increases our hope”
After the march, Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tunç Soyer spoke, “85th. On the anniversary of his death, we commemorate the Father of the Turks in Izmir with huge participation and crowds. We bow with respect to his cherished memory. These crowds show us that Atatürk continues to be our guiding light. Atatürk’s principles and revolutions guide us in the political climate in which Türkiye and the world are living today. We will adhere to these principles to the end. The presence of crowds also enlarges our hope for the future.”
